Managing Principal

Stewart Schaffer is a co-founder and managing principal of CSuite Solutions. He has been a senior strategy and business development executive in the healthcare, retail and hospitality industries for over 30 years. His areas of expertise include: strategic planning, business development, business intelligence, product and service development, consumer marketing, branding and digital marketing. Industry experience includes: healthcare, retail, hospitality, outdoor recreation, charge card and manufacturing.

Stewart utilizes a wide range of internal and external data along with a platform of analytical services to develop and implement enterprise strategy. Using technology that was developed for both the retail and hospitality industries, our clients are able to uncover and confirm the medical needs and wants of every individual in the populations being served. Stewart brings a broad based perspective by working with some of the largest healthcare systems and consumer brands in the US. Prior to CSuite Solutions, Stewart served as Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer at BayCare Health System where, during his tenure, he led an organization wide direct-to-consumer marketing and business development strategy. Stewart’s work contributed to a 20% increase in net revenue of $500 million and a net margin increase from 5% to 7%. He has previously held senior business development positions at International Paper Company, American Express and Club Corporation of America. Stewart holds a BA and MBA from the Wharton School of Business.

Stephen R Mason

Senior Associate

Stephen R Mason is a co-founder and senior associate of CSuite Solutions. He has served in key leadership roles in large US healthcare systems for over 30 years. Steve’s areas of achievement have included premier customer experience, one standard of care across the enterprise, top decile quality and business performance, and sustainable business models. 

He previously served as CEO of BayCare Health System in Tampa, Florida with 14 hospitals, 26,000 employees and over $3 billion in revenue. Prior to BayCare, Steve was the COO of Texas Health Resources, an Arlington based system with 13 hospitals, 17,000 employees and $2.3 billion in revenue.

Steve earned an MHA from the University of Minnesota, and a BA from Golden Gate University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Jim Burkhart

Senior Associate

Jim Burkhart has led a number of healthcare organizations over the past 35 years. Previously he was President and CEO of Tampa General Hospital (TGH). TGH is a tertiary-level teaching facility that is affiliated with the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. Both faculty and private physicians practice at this 1,018 bed acute care hospital whose services include organ transplant, comprehensive burn care and pediatric trauma care. Prior to TGH Jim was the President and CEO of the University of Florida (UF) & Shands Jacksonville Medical Center with 695 licensed beds. Similar to TGH, this health system is a private, not-for-profit institution that is a safety net hospital for Florida’s underinsured and uninsured patient populations. Jim’s practice specialties include academic medical centers, integrated physician models, supply chain optimization and academic relationships.

Jim earned his Doctorate of Science degree in Administrative Health Services as well as a Master of Hospital and Healthcare Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Biology. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives

Brian Paradis

Senior Associate

Brian Paradis has over 30 years of healthcare delivery experience and brings a broad spectrum of best practices to help our clients meet their goals. Brian is known as a creative idea generator and consensus builder who uses thought leadership to foster innovation within healthcare delivery teams. By using the concept of systems theory, he inspires and coaches executive and physician leaders to build cultures that execute strategy and achieve sustainable performance excellence. Brian Paradis’ practice specialties include strategic planning, business development, operations and financial performance.

Prior to his role as President of West Florida Health, Brian served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Florida Hospital’s Central Region, a $4 billion enterprise with more than 25,000 employees and 2,000 physicians. Under his leadership, Florida Hospital was ranked as the #1 Hospital in Florida by U.S. News & World Report for three consecutive years, and was a 2014 finalist for the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Florida Hospital was also the largest hospital in the United States to achieve the ISO 9001 certification for quality. Previously, Brian was the Chief Financial Officer for the Florida Division of Adventist Health Systems. He was instrumental in the successful launch of Celebration Health, a state-of-the-future healthcare facility in Walt Disney’s Celebration community.

Brian earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Southern College in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He further developed his financial acumen by earning a Public Accountant and a Management Accountant certification.
